2016 30 in 30 - Day 23
Phew...just getting this one in under the wire but this painting needs some work (or maybe a complete redo). The doorway needs to come over to the left more and I need to tone down the lightness of the wall to the left of the door. I will repost when/if I work on it more.

2016 30 in 30 - Day 22
Leo's place...a closer view. I'm starting to feel like a stalker...lol...just so many good things to paint across the road!
Note that I really don't like the texture of canvas for my palette knife paintings so I mix about 2 parts GOLDEN light molding paste with 1 part GOLDEN gesso and a little squirt of transparent yellow iron oxide fluid acrylic and spread it over my panel and let it dry before I paint. I find that if I just use gesso, it doesn't really get rid of the texture. Sometimes I attach cotton muslin to a wood panel using gel medium and then coat with gesso for a larger piece. The muslin is much finer than canvas but gives a tiny bit of texture.

More limited palette and tools. At first the building went all the way across but it seemed to need cutting off and there was no foliage above the building. Being on the road is make these few days a little tougher but so far so good. I'm not used to oils so I have to figure out how to get these wet paintings home. Wish I had a pizza box or something.

1/2 way through the challenge!
I painted this one over an old painting that I didn't really like. This is the view of my neighbor's farm house.

2016 30 in 30 - Day 4
I'm feeling a little better out this one. The oil sketching method I was trying was good and I used it in the under-painting of this one, but you know what...I LIKE thick paint and texture and had more fun painting this one with my palette knives that were not with me when I was away. The reference for this was another Google Street View from Ecuador. Below is the reference that was used for an initial sketch before putting it away for the rest of the painting, and obviously, some artistic license was used in not putting in the background buildings.

30 in 30 challenge - day 3
Back home now and back to my encaustic paints...sure did miss them. I'm going to try not to paint my "usual" too much for this challenge, but when short on time it's good to be able to get something down.
